Things to Do in Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve

Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve protects endangered white-naped cranes just 130 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar. This 240-square-kilometer reserve packs rolling grasslands, wetlands, and dramatic granite outcroppings into one accessible package. Feels genuinely remote. The reserve hosts over 200 bird species, plus argali sheep, red deer, and occasional snow leopards from higher elevations. Ancient burial mounds dot the landscape between herder camps.
